Launch of Minecraft on PS5 with Hardcore Mode

Microsoft has released the original PS5 version of Minecraft along with the latest update for the game on all platforms. The price of the PS5 version of the game is $19.99, even though it is available for free if players already own Minecraft: Bedrock Edition for the PS4.

To get their free digital copy, players simply need to visit the PlayStation Store on the PS5. Those who own the disc version of Bedrock Edition for the PS4 will need to insert it to play Minecraft on the PS5.

Mojang studio stated:

This original version of Minecraft has been optimized for the PS5 to take advantage of the hardware, so your game will have wider viewing distances while running in 4K resolution at 60 frames per second.

The PS5 version was released alongside the Bundles of Bravery update, which introduces bundles that allow players to store other items within them, Hardcore mode, described as the toughest survival challenge in the game that locks difficulty to the highest setting, as well as players having only one life in Hardcore mode with no respawns.

It is worth noting that Mojang studio announced last month its intention to end support for PlayStation VR in Minecraft in early 2025, and also plans to release more regular content updates for the game in the future.
