Report: Ubisoft has laid off the entire team of Prince of Persia The Lost Crown.
Not all of Ubisoft’s recent games have been well received by players, however, one title stood out, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, as the game received a great rating on Metacritic, and was highly praised by fans.
Despite the good critical performance, the game’s sales were really weak, as it was previously revealed that it only attracted 300,000 players, and perhaps more players have played it since then, but sales have not improved significantly. For these reasons, it seems that Ubisoft has parted ways with the entire team that worked on this game.
Trusted French journalist Gautoz revealed that the entire team behind the game has been dissolved, and it appears that the journalist has heard this information from multiple developers at Ubisoft Montpellier, and continued:
This was the best production of a game in my entire life. I was told repeatedly that it served as a beacon of hope for creativity and a safe space for people who were tired of playing BG&E 2, and the team was dissolved by Ubisoft.
If this is true, it is truly unfortunate that the team was dissolved in this manner. Weak sales may have been an indicator, but not many expected the entire team to be disbanded, and it seems that the developers also struggled to produce a sequel, but it was rejected.
