Bluesky experiences a surge in user numbers following controversial changes on the X platform

BlueSky, a decentralized social networking platform, has seen a significant increase in user numbers following a series of changes made by X, formerly known as Twitter.

BlueSky announced that it welcomed 500,000 new users in just one day, believed to be a result of the controversial decisions made by X recently, which caused dissatisfaction among many users.

One of the major changes was notifying users that their posts will remain visible to people who had previously blocked them. While banned accounts will not be able to interact with or comment on those posts, this modification raised concerns among users about the possibility of harassment or annoyance from blocked accounts.

The user reaction was strong to this decision, with many expressing their anger and frustration, prompting BlueSky to capitalize on the opportunity to increase its user base.

It is worth mentioning that BlueSky previously experienced a significant increase in its user numbers, with a million new users joining after X was blocked in Brazil last August.

On another note, the new updates to X’s terms of service have raised additional concerns among its users, particularly regarding data collection for training artificial intelligence models.

The amendments included a clause granting X the right to analyze user content for the purpose of enhancing artificial intelligence models, a move that raised privacy data concerns. These amendments are set to come into effect in mid-November, prompting some users to look for alternative platforms like BlueSky.

Competition among social networking platforms continues, and X’s recent changes may provide an additional boost for platforms like BlueSky to attract more users seeking a safer and more private social networking environment.
