iPhone 16 achieves early success in the Chinese market
Apple recorded a 20% increase in iPhone 16 sales in China, surpassing the initial numbers of iPhone 15 sales in 2023, just under a month after its launch in the Chinese market, according to data from Counterpoint Research.
This increase indicates the possibility of Apple’s strong return to the largest smartphone market in the world, after the company faced challenges in enhancing its position there. Strong models, such as iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, particularly stood out as their sales increased by 44% compared to last year’s models.
Analyst Ivan Lam believes that this growth is attributed to Apple’s pricing stability and production efficiency, in addition to strong demand from existing users. This positive performance comes at a time when iPhone 15 sales suffered from production delays and fierce competition from Huawei’s Mate 60 phone.
Despite this early success, Apple faces major challenges in the market, as it must confront competition from local brands like Huawei, Xiaomi, and Oppo to maintain sales momentum.
Last month, Huawei made headlines with the launch of its foldable phone, Mate XT, which received over 2.9 million pre-orders. Earlier this month, Vivo introduced the X200 phone series. It is expected that Xiaomi and Oppo will update their flagship lineups by the end of the year, keeping pressure on Apple.
