Dealing with digital licenses for video games can be complex, and this is currently putting PS Plus players at risk of losing one of their games forever.
Recently, Sony confirmed that they will permanently remove the game LittleBigPlanet 3 from the PlayStation Store, specifically on October 31st, after earlier disabling the game servers worldwide. Removing the game from the PlayStation Store means it will no longer be available for download permanently.
Previously, LBP 3 was a free monthly game on PS Plus in February 2017, and likely a large number of PlayStation users added it to their digital game library. If you are one of those people, you need to make sure you won’t lose access to the game once it’s removed from the library by not downloading the version available in the PS Plus Extra catalog.
In other words, if you have had the game since 2017 in your basic PS Plus game library, you should avoid redownloading it through PS Plus Extra games. The latter will cancel the original licenses, meaning that once the game is removed from the store on October 31st, you won’t be able to play it even if it’s installed on your device.
However, if you have the game through the basic package since 2017, you will still be able to play it even after it’s removed at the end of this month. Unlike those who downloaded it through the Extra package, they will lose the ability to play the game after this date.
In the meantime, we advise you not to rush and redownload the game through the PS Plus Extra catalog. Instead, download it from your game library and install it on your device before this date to ensure you don’t lose it at the end of the month.
This is the current situation in the digital market, which unfortunately may put players in many unclear situations.
