Tracking the Classification of the Death Note Game in the Taiwanese Age Rating Organization

There are many anime and manga series that could make amazing video games. For example, Berserk could be an amazing game if developed by FromSoftware, and Mobile Suit Gundam would look great in the world of Titanfall. However, most anime-inspired video games end up being fighting games, specifically 3D fighting games. They’re not bad in themselves, but they’re not what we aspire to. Some suggest that Death Note could become a successful video game.

Last June, a trademark was registered for “Death Note” in Europe, and now a game centered around the iconic manga Death Note has been rated in Taiwan. The unannounced Death Note game has received ratings for both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. It is clear that the game will be published by Bandai Namco, which usually brings us many anime-inspired games. These indications herald the imminent unveiling of a game inspired by the Death Note anime.

This is not the first time we have gotten a Death Note game; three games were released on the Nintendo DS in Japan. However, they were not released outside of Japan. Both Death Note: Kira Game and Death Note: Successor to L were strategic games where players had to deduce the enemy’s identity. The third game served as an introduction to the manga’s events.

The new Death Note game may focus on strategic elements. It might be a visual novel, similar to what happened in Digimon Survive game for 2022. We hope to discover that sooner rather than later.
