Samsung prepares to reduce a large number of executive positions in the semiconductor sector.
Samsung is planning to make radical changes in the semiconductor industry sector, seeking to reduce a large number of executive positions by the end of 2024. This move comes after the Korean company confirmed that it will not separate its semiconductor divisions, despite ongoing losses and tough competition in the artificial intelligence chip market.
According to a recent report, the head of hardware solutions at Samsung is leading a comprehensive review in preparation for a wide-ranging reorganization that includes leadership positions in the semiconductor sector. According to the Korean newspaper KED Global, Samsung has 1,164 executives by the end of the second quarter of this year, including 438 executives in the hardware solutions sector dedicated to chips. This number is significant compared to its competitor, SK Hynix, which only has 199 executives.
Many of these executives are from the semiconductor sector boom in 2017 and 2018, but the sector has seen a significant slowdown in recent years, and Samsung has not made any significant changes in its executive structure during this period.
It is expected that Samsung will appoint new leaders in three main departments, including chip design, manufacturing, and memory. The sector is expected to undergo major changes in leadership positions by the end of this year, as the company aims to replace technology chiefs and key manufacturing and technology directors.
