How to schedule SMS messages on Android
Text messaging is usually used for quick communication. You send a message when something is on your mind or reply as soon as you receive a message. But what if you could schedule text messages to send at the right time without any effort from you?
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve used this feature to save myself. The human mind tends to forget things when the time comes to execute them. But now, all you have to do is use the message scheduling feature to solve the problem of forgetting and schedule text messages on Android for delivery at the specified time. It’s funny how a missed message can put us in really embarrassing situations or even disrupt our work. Well, if you are an Android user and suffer from the “forgot to send the message” syndrome, here’s how to schedule text messages on Android simply and effectively.
Scheduling Messages Using the Default SMS App
I can assure you that your Android smartphone can have this feature by default, without the need to download any helper app. Especially if you use Samsung phones, Xiaomi phones, and other devices that rely on the default Samsung Messages and MIUI Messages apps.
To check if your smartphone has this feature, follow these steps: Open any message or conversation within your default Messaging app> Click on the plus icon (+) in the message composition box> Then click on the Schedule message option, and in some devices, you may find the option under the name Timed> From here, you can select the time and date and schedule your message to be sent later. If you change your mind about sending it, click on the clock icon next to the message and choose Delete, and if you want to edit the message schedule or its content, click on Edit, and if you want to send it immediately, just click on Send now.

Scheduling Messages Using Google Messages
If you don’t find the above feature by default on your device, don’t worry! All you have to do is download the Google Messages app, which is one of the best options for managing and sending SMS messages on Android phones, and it is even the default app on most Android devices. Fortunately, in late 2020, the app gained additional features for the ability to schedule messages. This is very useful for those moments when you do not want to forget to send a message later.

Let’s start with the steps involved in scheduling messages using Google Messages; first, you will need to set the Google Messages app as the default messaging app on your device. When you open it for the first time, you will see the option Set default SMS app> within the popup window, Select Messages and click on Set as default> all your previous conversations will now appear in Messages.
Select a conversation where you want to schedule a message> write the message you want to send, and long press the send button> this will open scheduling options to set the date and time for scheduling the message directly.
Note:If you are unable to see the scheduling popup window, make sure to update the Messages app to the latest version available on Google Play Store.
But if you change your mind later or want to update the message to change the message text or the scheduled time, you can click on the clock icon next to the scheduled message and choose Update message. You also have the option to Send the message now, and you can delete the scheduled message entirely by selecting Delete message.
If you cannot access the latest update of the “Google Messages” app and benefit from the message scheduling feature, you can use some external apps by referring to the topic 3 Ways to Schedule SMS Messages on Android, which will in turn accomplish the task perfectly.
