News about the hacking of Red Barrels Studio servers and theft of source codes and data totaling 1.8 terabytes

A statement released by the developer of the game Outlast, Red Barrels studio, on their official X page stated that their information system had been attacked by hackers leading to the theft of important information. Security experts were called in to contain the situation, as well as notifying shareholders who may be affected. The post was later deleted.

According to some sources, the leaked data included various things such as HR data, credit card numbers, copies of games, and the full source code of both Outlast games. The leaked data amounted to 1.8 terabytes or 1.5 million files.

One unnamed source revealed that the hacker responsible for the breach is a newly formed group called Nitorgen, who demanded an undisclosed sum of money, or else they would release all the data publicly.

It should be noted that the theft of the source code of a game could lead to the creation of a cracked version of the game with ease, as well as credit card data that allows the purchase of almost anything at the owner’s expense.
