Debut of Saudi Group’s Electric Aircraft at Global Logistics Forum

The electric aircraft from Saudi Group appeared for the first time in Riyadh during the World Logistics Forum 2024, which started yesterday and will continue until the fourteenth of October.
Last July, the Saudi Group signed an important deal to purchase one hundred electric aircraft with the German company “Lilium” specialized in manufacturing electric aircraft. This deal includes 50 confirmed aircraft and 50 optional aircraft.
Unlike the aircraft displayed yesterday, the delivery of the first batch to Saudi Arabia is scheduled for 2026, as mentioned by Lilium CEO Klaus Roy in an interview with the “Economic” newspaper when signing the deal, estimating the value of each aircraft at around $4.5 million.
Klaus Roy also announced the possibility of manufacturing Lilium aircraft in Saudi Arabia in the future. He added that the company is working on developing a support system for the aircraft purchase deal, including manufacturing some components and spare parts in Saudi Arabia, as a prelude to establishing a complete factory in the country.
This development comes as part of Saudi Group’s efforts to enhance its leadership in the electric aviation field, where these aircraft are expected to contribute to improving transportation efficiency and enhancing environmental sustainability.
