Google officially announces its foldable phone, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, one of the thinnest foldable phones.
Google officially announced its foldable phone, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, today. This is the second generation of foldable phones offered by Google.
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is one of the thinnest foldable phones, featuring an OLED external screen measuring 6.3 inches with a resolution of 2424×1080 and brightness of up to 2700nits and 1600nits with HDR. When opened, the phone has an OLED screen measuring 8 inches with a resolution of 2152×2076 and the same brightness and HDR capabilities. Both screens have a 120Hz refresh rate and are protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
The phone is powered by a Tensor G4 processor, 16GB of RAM, storage options of 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB, and a 4650mAh battery. It has three rear cameras – a 48MP main camera with f/1.7 aperture, a 10.8MP wide-angle camera, and a 10.8MP 5x optical zoom camera. There is also a 10MP front camera on both the external and internal screens.
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold features a side fingerprint reader, stereo speakers, runs on Android 14, and will receive major software and security updates for seven years. It is IPX8 waterproof and supports Google AI features. Google claims it is the thinnest foldable phone to be released in the United States, with a thickness of 10.5mm when closed, compared to 11.7mm for the OnePlus Open phone and 12.1mm for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6.
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is currently available for pre-order and will go on sale on September 4th starting at $1,799.
