Apple releases iOS 18 without artificial intelligence

Apple has released the latest operating system updates iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 for iPhones and iPads, which come with many new features for the devices. One of the key features in the update is the addition of RCS messaging, aimed at improving communication with Android users, but it does not include the advanced artificial intelligence technologies that the company will offer.

Apple announced iOS 18 for the first time at the WWDC24 developer conference, stating that it will come with many new advanced artificial intelligence technologies. However, in the recent iPhone 16 announcement event, the company mentioned that Apple Intelligence will not be available immediately with the launch of iOS 18, but it will come in the iOS 18.1 updates in October.

Apple has started rolling out iOS 18 for iPhone 15 and earlier models, with support for RCS announced for the first time last June. It allows iPhone and Android users to share high-definition photos and videos, see typing indicators, use read receipts, and despite these improvements, messages from Android users will still appear in green bubbles.

Other updates related to messaging in iOS 18 include new text effects and formatting options in iMessage, as well as the ability to schedule messages for later sending.

iPhone users will also be able to send messages via satellites.

iOS 18 update also includes customization options for the home screen, allowing users to rearrange, resize, and color app icons and widgets, a major redesign of the Photos app, as well as a new app for managing passwords. The Control Center in the iPhone has been redesigned as well.

As for the iPadOS 18 update, one of the notable additions is finally the calculator app, which has been long awaited for over a decade.

The new operating system update is now available for iPhone users starting from the XR model and newer up to iPhone 15, as well as the budget models, iPhone SE second and third generations.

The update can be downloaded on the iPhone or iPad by going to “Settings”, then selecting “General”, and then “Software Update”, and following the steps to install the new system.
