Manually Adjusting the Graphics Settings within Games to Solve Game Lag Issues.

Certainly, adjusting the graphics settings for games is important. Some users may wonder why they should adjust the settings when they can set them to the maximum level. The answer is simple: if your computer components can handle running modern games at high settings, go ahead and do it immediately. But if they cannot handle it, you will experience lag and slow gameplay, or the computer may not be able to run the game at all.
How to Edit Graphics Settings for Games
Games vary in how to access their graphics settings, and the available settings for modification also vary from one game to another. First, you need to enter the game and go to Settings, where you will find Video Options, which are the graphics settings available. Some games display a window with all the graphics settings before entering the game, while others like PES store these settings in a file within the game’s files named Settings. You need to open it, adjust the settings, and then start the game.
These settings are usually simple for the average user. You can try running the game at higher settings as shown in the image with the PES game. If you encounter any stuttering, lagging, or if the game does not work, gradually decrease the settings until you reach suitable values.
Another method is to adjust the settings through the control panel of your graphics card. Your graphics card comes with a control panel installed with the drivers, allowing you to adjust the settings as you desire. The process varies depending on the type of card you have, whether it’s Intel, AMD, or Nvidia.
Adjusting Settings for Nvidia Card Owners
Simply right-click on the desktop, click on NVIDIA Control Panel, then click on Adjust image settings with preview from the left menu. Now you can click on Use my preference emphasizing and move the slider towards Performance, focusing on performance over quality. This is suitable for owners of older cards or those struggling to run a game and willing to do so even at a very low quality.
Another option is to click on Use the advanced 3D image settings, then click on Take me there. This allows you to choose a specific game or program and adjust the settings for it. If you have a game that doesn’t work and you want to make it work, you can set the lowest settings for it by clicking on Add, selecting it from your device, and adjusting the settings as you prefer.
To choose the appropriate settings, consider this example. If you have an older graphics card that struggles to run modern games, select Use my preference emphasizing, and move the slider all the way to the left. This means reducing the image and graphics quality to the lowest level so the card can run the game. The default option here is to Use the advanced 3D image settings, allowing you to adjust the 3D settings for programs and games yourself by clicking on Take me there next to the previous command to display the following screen.
Adjusting Settings for AMD Card Owners
Just right-click on the desktop, click on Catalyst Control Center, then click on Gaming from the left menu. Next, click on 3D Application Settings. You will find an option called System Settings which allows you to change the graphics settings for the entire device. There is also the Application Settings option, which enables you to choose a specific game or program on your device and adjust the graphics settings for it. Click on it, then on Add, select the game or program, and adjust the settings.
Adjusting Settings for Intel Card Owners
Simply right-click on the desktop, click on Graphics Properties, then click on Basic Mode, choose 3D, and move the slider towards Performance to enable smooth gameplay without lag. You can also balance between performance and quality. Note that selecting performance will affect image quality. In general, integrated Intel graphics cards are not suitable for gaming as they are very weak since they are integrated with the motherboard and not separate graphics cards.
