Everything you need to know about the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S30 phone

The end of 2020 means we are getting closer to the official announcement of Samsung’s flagship phone family, the Galaxy S30 – expected to be named S30 as anticipated. While it is still early to predict all the details or find accurate rumors circulating about the specifications and features of the upcoming phone, we have some reliable leaks to share with you in case you are like us eagerly waiting for the crucial moment. So let’s move on to the important points you want to hear.

Naming and Release Date

It seems that the Korean giant has played around with names a bit during 2020, for example, jumping directly from S10 to S20 instead of S11 – it is said that this number is unlucky and a source of pessimism for the Chinese, which makes companies skip the number 11. It should be noted that there will also be an Ultra model. These changes make it difficult for all Android phone specialized sites to predict the correct name of the awaited phone, although some predict it will be named Galaxy S21, it is unlikely according to some reliable sources, in the end, no one knows how its next name will be.

As for the release date, it is expected to be around February 2021, given the release date of the previous Galaxy S series which has always been released at the same time every year since the release of Galaxy S9. There are rumors from several tech sources that the release date might be sooner than expected, for example, Samsung may want to bring this date forward to January 2021 instead of February. We will get the correct answer in the coming weeks or even in the next few days.

Unfortunately, it is expected that the company will continue its policy outside North America – meaning that S30 versions relying on Exynos chips instead of Snapdragon are expected to be launched in Asia, Africa, and Europe, and in fact, this is what we do not wish to happen. However, it is likely to happen, and we should expect it.

Since the S20 series was pioneering in choosing RAM specifications, the S30 family is also expected to come with at least 12GB of RAM. There will also be no model with less than 128GB of internal storage capacity. It is also expected to have a QHD display with a refresh rate of at least 120Hz.

Reports suggest some leaked rumors about the battery capacity for both Samsung Galaxy S30 and Samsung Galaxy S30 Ultra, with the former having a 4000mAh battery capacity, while the latter with a 5000mAh battery capacity. As for the Galaxy S30 Plus model, it will contain a 4800mAh battery – these predictions are based on the S20 Plus phone, which had a 4500mAh battery, and we still hope and believe that these are the capacities of the upcoming Galaxy S30 family.

As for charging speed, there are leaks indicating the arrival of a super-fast 65W wired charger, which seems logical as OnePlus has just launched the OnePlus 8T with a charger of almost the same capacity. However, we shouldn’t expect all models of the family to have this charging standard, but what we can expect is that the S30 Ultra model will definitely have this charger. Perhaps other models will also be able to take advantage of this feature, but leaks confirm that only the Ultra model is certain to come with this high-speed charging feature in the box. Otherwise, it is in the realm of speculation.

Galaxy S30 Cameras

At this point specifically, most of the leaks and rumors have contradicted each other. Nevertheless, one of these rumors suggests that the phone will have a primary sensor with a 150MP resolution paired with a 64MP photography camera and a 16MP ultra-wide camera and a 12MP dedicated macro sensor. While there are other rumors that seem closer to the truth, indicating that the phone will feature a primary 108MP sensor found in the S20 Ultra and Note 20 Ultra models, and instead will provide two lenses for zoom capabilities, one of which may be part of a zoom lens setup.

There are also rumors that may seem illogical at times but are likely and related to the front selfie camera or the in-display Selfie Camera feature, alleging that the company has not been able to meet the requirements of including this new feature in previous Galaxy S families, but current rumors suggest that this feature may be only for the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold and is likely to be named Z Fold 3.

Price and Availability

In every year, prices of the Galaxy S family have gradually increased, and this is also expected to happen with the Galaxy S30 family in 2021. However, there are three sensitive factors that could play a major role in significantly changing the upcoming prices in favor of consumers: rumors have suggested that Samsung was not satisfied with the profit returns of the Galaxy S20 family this year. The second factor is how the Galaxy A series phones and the Galaxy S20 FE were priced lower and gained popularity among fans due to their affordable price. There are also indications that the coronavirus pandemic will continue through 2021. By combining these three factors, it is expected that Samsung will reduce the price of the Galaxy S30 family instead of increasing it.

Therefore, the best possible plan for Samsung at this stage to profit is to price the new phone at the same price as the current-generation Galaxy S20, which is $999, or perhaps even slightly lower to stimulate its sales in the market and gain a wider range of exposure among current competitors. This way, the Galaxy S30 could be a great investment. Those looking for the best will have the higher models available, and then Samsung can raise its value according to its needs and this includes both the Plus and Ultra models. In conclusion, we expect the new series to be launched in March 2021 globally.
