Facebook officially announces a new feature that prevents your partner or anyone from reading your conversations on Messenger, and here’s how to activate it.
With these updates, Facebook aims to ensure the safety of users who use Messenger.
Facebook, as the most popular social network at present and focusing on user safety, has introduced this new optional feature within the settings capabilities in Messenger.
Users who activate this new tool called App Lock will have greater control over their conversations to prevent, for example, someone from accessing the device without prior permission.
What happens in Messenger, stays in Messenger. Today, we’re rolling out new features like the ability to lock your app. Find out how and more about our other updates here: pic.twitter.com/4JC5JpDbtX— Messenger (@messenger) July 22, 2020
How does App Lock work in Messenger?
This new security tool works with the same security options for mobile devices that the user has.
This means that if the user has fingerprint or face recognition on the phone, they will also use it in Facebook Messenger.
To activate this function, you must follow the following steps:
– Access the menu (by clicking on your profile picture)
– Go to Privacy
– Enter App Lock
Activate the Request Face ID (or Touch ID depending on the device) option
Select the time frame in which you want to activate the feature (from the moment of exiting the application to one hour after exiting)
That’s all, you can now block Messenger and access it using your Face ID (or Touch ID) or your security code.
This feature is now available to iOS users, but will soon be available for Android system users.
