Exciting new features in Microsoft’s Copilot robot will entice you to use it

It is no secret that Microsoft is heavily focusing on generative artificial intelligence and employing the famous robot – based on ChatGPT – named Copilot in all possible services to the extent that the company’s CEO, Satya Nadella, described Microsoft as a “Copilot company” during the Ignite 2023 event. As part of Microsoft’s efforts to make Copilot a smart companion capable of interacting with users in a more natural way, it recently announced an updated version of the robot that includes a comprehensive redesign of the user interface in addition to adopting features previously seen in the GPT-4o model from OpenAI, taking the Copilot experience to a new level where the robot becomes friendly to users. In this article, we highlight the key features directed towards Windows, the web, and mobile devices.

New Features of Copilot Robot

Copilot Voice Feature

This feature enhances the voice interaction in Copilot to be more interactive, smooth, and closer to the human voice than ever before. Microsoft has equipped the robot with four new voices, allowing you to choose the voice that suits your preferences in terms of style and tone so that you can engage in natural and engaging conversations that make you feel like you are dealing with a human, not a machine. For example, you can now speak to Copilot and interrupt its dialogue to ask a question or clarify something, without affecting the flow of the conversation. Additionally, Copilot can now recognize stuttering and adapt to new inputs without any problem, a feature present in the ChatGPT robot with the GPT-4o model through the Advanced Voice Mode feature, working excellently.

Copilot Vision Feature

This feature allows you to share your camera with artificial intelligence to help you with anything the camera sees in real-time, opening up a myriad of possibilities similar to what we have seen in the GPT-4o model. For example, imagine you have selected a movie to watch and want to know more about it. Just point the camera at the movie poster, and Copilot will provide you with detailed information about the plot, actors, and even critic reviews.
This feature is also available in the Microsoft Edge browser to enhance the browsing experience by scanning the contents of the web pages users visit and enabling you to ask any question you desire through typing or voice commands. For example, if you are reading a complex article and want to understand a specific point, you can use Copilot Vision to assist you. It is worth mentioning that this feature respects the privacy of users and alerts them when it is active; Microsoft has confirmed this, stating that the data collected is not used to train artificial intelligence tools.

Copilot Daily Feature

This feature aims to help you start your day with an audio summary of the most important news, weather, and useful tips in a natural and realistic voice. You can customize this summary to receive news that interests you in the fields you care about. If bad or sad news affects your mood, you can choose something positive to brighten your day and satisfy your interests. Responsive speed is an important advantage in artificial intelligence models, but Microsoft went further, affirming that the main goal of updating Copilot is to build a strong relationship with the user by making them feel they have a smart companion they can rely on for many things.
You can customize the voice in Copilot Daily as you wish, and most importantly, it will not be a boring artificial voice. The robot will interact with users in a warm tone and distinctive style, not only providing information but also offering encouragement, feedback, and advice during navigating daily life challenges.

Think Deeper Feature (Experimental)

The new update for Copilot includes a pilot program featuring the generative artificial intelligence capabilities that Microsoft is working on, named “Copilot Labs,” somewhat resembling Google Search Labs and will only be available to subscribers of the paid version of the Copilot robot “Copilot Pro”. They can become early testers of Copilot features before they are released to the public and provide critical feedback. The first of these experimental features is “Think Deeper,” which relies on the new o1 model from OpenAI to make Copilot more diverse and intelligent, equipping it with logical capabilities to solve complex problems step by step. Microsoft says, “We designed Think Deeper to be useful in all kinds of practical and daily challenges, such as weighing complex options.” It adds, “This feature can help with everything from solving complex math problems to calculating the costs of managing household projects.”

Copilot Personalized Discover Feature

Microsoft says Copilot’s responses will become more tailored to your interests and preferences with this new feature, as the tool will leverage your interactions and past history with it, as well as your interactions with other Microsoft applications and services (details undisclosed) to provide recommendations on how to use Copilot. This feature will reach many regions soon, but for residents of the UK and EU countries, it is unlikely that they will use it in the near future due to disputes with Microsoft.
Ultimately, these features are expected to improve Copilot’s tool and increase its user base, as well as the number of enthusiasts using artificial intelligence and its applications on computers in general. It is worth mentioning that running these applications on a computer in the future will require the artificial intelligence chip or Neural Processing Unit (NPU), but for now, you can easily use Copilot on most computers.
