Cat Causes Entire Hospital to Be Left Without Service for Hours

In many occasions, adopting a dog or cat can make us extremely happy and change our lives forever. This is certainly true, but in the story we present to you today, it seems that a cat could make life impossible for its owner for a few hours due to a serious mistake. We all know that cats don’t really understand how property works, or personal space, but on this occasion, it seems that the cat crossed the line, causing a serious computer problem by lying or jumping on the keyboard.

And now, it appears that the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri, faced a serious security issue for four hours where it couldn’t provide the service due to a system malfunction from the reports. Though it seems to have happened on September 13th, the details became clearer today.

According to Futurism, a technician was configuring a group of servers at the medical center when a cat jumped on the expert’s keyboard and accidentally deleted all the data on the server, including all the medical records for the US government.

Curt DeBerg, Acting Assistant Secretary for Information and Technology at the US Department of Veterans Affairs, allowed himself to joke about the situation with the following comment: “And that’s why I have a dog and not a cat.”

After the incident, the online forums for American veterans quickly filled with jokes about how to recover deleted data from their cats at home, and others wondered if it was possible to identify the cat that caused the incident.

In any case, it is a very serious matter, as the fact that user reports could be deleted due to an error of this kind sets a somewhat dark precedent regarding what is referred to in the archives and documents of American veterans.
