How to Send High-Quality Photos on Facebook Messenger Application

Have you ever sent a picture in a conversation on Facebook Messenger and noticed that its quality decreased after the recipient received it? This is because Messenger, like most chat applications, automatically compresses images before sending them, which helps to send images quickly but reduces their quality in return. Many people do not prefer this method, so they try to workaround it by uploading the image online and sharing the link, allowing them to maintain the original quality of the image, but this may not be very practical. Fortunately, “Meta” recently added an option to send high-quality (HD) photos directly in the Messenger app. This means that you can now easily send high-quality photos without the need for any tricks. Here is how to use this new feature in detail.

Sending High-Quality Photos on Messenger

“Meta” has announced new features for the Messenger app, including the option to send high-quality photos when sharing them in conversations on the app. Unfortunately, no specific details have been revealed about the extent of the “high quality” of these photos, or the amount of compression still applied to them. If this feature works similarly to WhatsApp, it is likely that a low percentage of compression is applied to the photos. Therefore, using the new feature may not be the best solution for sharing your original (uncompressed) photos with friends. In other words, it may not meet the needs of users who want to share their photos in their original quality without any modification or compression. However, the addition of the feature itself is an improvement in the experience of sharing photos on the app.

How to Send Photos in High Quality on Messenger

Open the Facebook Messenger app on your Android or iPhone device, then go to the conversation where you want to send the picture, whether it’s a one-on-one chat or a group chat. Then, tap on the “Photos” icon at the bottom next to the text input field, then choose the photos from your phone’s photo library that you want to send. In the photo sharing section, you will notice the option to send photos in high quality HD [as indicated in the image above], so click on it to activate it. When you press the “Send” button, the app will share all selected photos in the highest possible quality.
You can also activate the option to send high-quality HD photos through the photo editing interface before sending it in the Messenger app. After opening the conversation, tapping on the “Photos” icon, and selecting a specific photo from your phone’s photo library, click on the “Edit” button, then make sure to activate the [HD] option in the part that specifies the photo quality at the bottom, then press “Send.” In both cases, after sending the photo, you will notice the “HD” tag appearing in the top right corner of the photo, which is not a watermark but just a logo to let the other party in the conversation know that the photo was sent in higher quality.
