7 Ways to Improve Battery Life on iPhone Devices Running iOS 11

In the past, we have had many articles and explanations targeting the most important resource in the smartphone as a whole, which is the battery. We have focused on discussing the Android system in general, where you can go to this article or to this article to learn some tips and methods to reduce the high battery consumption or to maintain the battery life in general. Today, in a new article, we talk about important ways and tips to maintain the battery life of your iPhone on the upcoming iOS 11 version, which is expected to be announced in September. On the other hand, this version comes with a large set of new features, most notably the new designs on the notification center, along with the one-handed typing feature on the virtual keyboard, as well as the new design on the lock screen and home screen. You can learn about most of the features of this version by going here.

In the topic of the phone battery itself, many common complaints have emerged among users of the beta versions of this version. The problem has manifested in the rapid draining of the battery capacity, and these users believe that the issue is related to a system issue or bug. However, this is a misconception. At the same time, you can still improve the battery life of your iPhone by switching and changing settings, as some features and settings are resource-intensive and consume a lot of battery power. This can be the reason for this rapid draining. Here in this article, we present to you 7 ways and tips to reduce this draining and maintain the phone’s battery life, as follows:
1. Enable Reduce Motion mode:
The animations and visual effects coming with iOS 11 look great and numerous at the same time, such as the animated background effect on the home screen, or animated apps. The downside is that these effects drain your phone battery. If you want to save battery, you can disable them by:
* Going to Settings.
* Then to General tab.
* Accessing the Accessibility section.
* Finally, searching for the Reduce Motion option and enabling it.
2. Disable Raise to Wake feature:
The Raise to Wake feature, introduced for the first time in iOS 10, opens the phone when you raise it towards you, and when you lower it, the phone automatically locks. This feature is very useful if you wake up and want to check your iPhone for missed notifications or calls instead of using the home button. However, despite its usefulness, it has a major downside, which is draining the battery. To stop this feature, you can:
* Go to Settings.
* Then go to the Display & Brightness tab.
* Finally, turn off the Raise to Wake feature.
3. Adjust screen brightness:
The screen is the most battery-consuming component. The higher the brightness, the faster the drain. You can improve battery life by adjusting the screen brightness to the minimum or to the desired level, and most importantly, adjust the brightness to a comfortable level for your eyes.
4. Disable automatic fetching of new data:
Logically, if you have added your email account in the mail application, there is a possibility that you have set the app to fetch new emails automatically. While this is useful, it increases battery consumption by continuously checking for new messages. To reduce battery consumption here, you need to disable this feature or change the settings so that new data is fetched less frequently, for example, every “30 minutes.” You can do this by:
* Go to Settings.
* Tap on Accounts & Passwords tab.
* Click on Fetch New Data option.
* From the next screen, you can either disable it completely or extend the fetching time as we mentioned every half hour.
5. Remove widgets:
Widgets are a useful feature that allows you to take a quick look at apps without opening them. However, it drains the iPhone battery more than you may think, especially those that require access to location services and calendar like Maps and Weather widgets, etc. Therefore, getting rid of some of these elements or all of them is advisable. You can do this by:
* Go to the lock screen and scroll down to view today’s calendar.
* Scroll down and click on Edit.
* From the next screen, you can remove the tools you don’t need by pressing the “-” sign in red.
* If you rarely use this feature, it is best to remove all of them.

6. Disable frequent location access:
This option is deeply hidden in the phone settings and allows you to track the places you visit frequently and use this data to provide better location services like calendar and maps apps. You can disable it by:
* Go to Settings.
* Go to the Privacy tab.
* Navigate to Location Services and then scroll down and click on System Services.
* Click on Significant Locations and disable it.
7. Check battery usage:
When you notice that the phone battery is draining very quickly, one of the first things you should do is check the battery usage to identify the apps that consume most of the battery power:
* Here, you need to go to Settings.
* Click on the Battery tab, where you will find a list of apps, along with battery usage for the past 24 hours or 7 days.
* Close the app that you see consuming a lot whenever you don’t need it, instead of keeping it open in the background.
Finally, these are some ways to improve the performance of the battery of your iPhone running on iOS 11. As we mentioned earlier, this version is currently in the beta stage, and until the time of writing this article, some of these tips may change or new tips may be introduced.
