3 Alternatives to Screen Capture and Taking Screenshots Without PrtScr Key
You may use a keyboard without the PrtScr button. So what do you do if there is an error on your device and you want to take a screenshot of it as it appears on the screen to send it to a friend helping you solve the problem or you liked a certain view on the screen and intend to capture it, or you want to explain something and need to take a screenshot to clarify it? Is the PrtScr key the only solution? Of course not, and there are alternatives to it.
If you do not have the PrtScr button that takes a screenshot of your device’s screen, you can customize one of the buttons that you do not need to act as PrtScr and by pressing it, it will take a screenshot of your screen. Using ALT + this button takes a picture of the open window until you paste it into a graphic editing program or a text editing program. You can customize a key on the keyboard for this using simple tools like KeyTweak or SharpKeys, but before doing so, make sure that the key you are using is not important to you and will not be used.
2- Using Snipping Tool
This tool comes default with Windows, it’s a very simple and great tool that I use a lot. To access it, open the search next to the Start menu and type Snipping Tool to find it. By clicking on New, you can then select the area you intend to take a screenshot of without controlling a specific window or the entire screen because you can select any part of the screen you want to capture only.
3- Using a program or tool
This is definitely the best way, although the previous method is sufficient for many people, using a tool or program that performs this operation adds some features and other enhancements to you, such as customizing a group of keys to press and take a screenshot of the entire screen, and another group to take a screenshot of the open window or a specific area of the screen. For example, you can use a program like Greenshot, and there are other alternative programs as well that you can try.
